Number Didn't Double

I just got my HCG results: 20,184.

On Wednesday my HCG was 14,000, so it should have been around 28,000. She's going to talk to my doctor and see what he wants to do.

I don't know what to think about this.... The numbers aren't horrible. But they're not double.

Try to keep positive (this from the girl who has been in a foul mood for weeks!). It is possible that things will turn out just fine.
I'm here if you need to talk and know that their are lots of people rooting for you and for this prgnancy!!!

I don't normally post, but I've been lurking a bit for the last month or so, and wanted to post on this one. I don't think those numbers are bad at all. No, they didn't double, but I've read in so many places that once the numbers hit 10,000 they stop doubling and the increase slows down a lot. Some people say once they hit 6,000 it happens. I've seen soooo many cases where the numbers slowed down and a healthy pregnancy ensued, so I wouldn't give up hope yet! I'm surprised they're even double-checking your betas at this point because, from what I've heard, once something can be seen on an ultrasound, that growth and increase is FAR more accurate, as it tells you exactly what's happen, and doesn't leave you to rely on wonky betas that behave so differently for everyone. Are you going for an ultrasound soon?

Good luck with everything, I'm sending T & P's your way!

Hang in there!

Holly is right. The numbers don't always double when they get into the higher values.

My numbers didn't double and I was told not to worry...everything ended up ok!

I was going to say what everyone else already said. I know how scared you are and I would be too. Try to take deep breaths...listen to your doctor (who understands your history and is telling you to be optimistic) and try, just try, to have hope.

The numbers actually slow down after reaching 1000 taking 3 to 4 days to double. Don't panic yet.
